Check the record itself

Take it out of the sleeve. Look for scratches and warps under a light, and ask to hear it if you’re unsure.

Try it on if you can

Older size labels can be misleading. Bring measurements from something that fits, and check the underarms, seams and zipper.

Look underneath

Check for maker’s marks, chips, old repairs and missing parts. With a stereo or other old electronics, ask what has actually been tested.

On foot

The boulevard walk

Start near the freeway and work your way down Morro Bay Boulevard. Turn onto Main or Beach Street for the side stops, then carry on to the waterfront.

Along the way

    Start on the boulevard

    Browse Vinyl Isle, Achievement House, and Foxy’s, then head down to Beachcomber, Treasures, Castaways, and Divers.

  2. 02

    Keep going toward the water

    Out of the Dark and Tara Lee’s are farther down the boulevard. Detour to Grandma’s on Main or ThrifTide on Beach Street before a break by the bay.

  3. 03

    Quintana and the north side

    Try The Good Flea and Nifty Thrifty on Quintana Road, or make a separate trip to the antique shops on North Main and Atascadero Road.

The walking link runs from Vinyl Isle to Tara Lee’s, via Foxy’s, Beachcomber, and Divers. Quintana Road and the north-side shops are separate trips. Check current hours before setting off.
